By their deeds we shall remember them
The North Bay Sports Hall of Fame was founded October 20th, 1977 with an avowed purpose to “honour and perpetuate the names and deeds of those whose athletic prowess brought fame to their community and to themselves; of those whose interest in and work for sport resulted in a climate which benefitted athletes and athletics.

The Hall, headquartered in Memorial Gardens Hockey Arena where the first meeting took place, now has a concourse area to be dedicated to pictures of inductees and various local sports artifacts. The original Hall of Fame Room that was constructed in 1987 with the help of a Wintario grant was converted to a lounge in 2013. The NBSHF is a non profit organization and has been a registered Charitable Organization since 1979 (11905 9293 RR 0001).

The Hall holds a banquet each year at which the newest members are inducted and presented with scrolls and pins. The dinner also serves another purpose as many of the key individual North Bay trophies for various sports and organizations are presented in what has become a major celebration of North Bay sport and the people who play, coach, officiate and build. The first induction dinner took place November 8th, 1980. The Silver Anniversary dinner was held on April 16th, 2005.
